Mix & Move: Convívio

With group Esperança e Vida for the Southbank Centre (2022)

Convívio was a community dance project led by Fabíola at the Southbank Centre, bringing together a group of elders (Esperança e Vida) living in the Lambeth borough, who have in common the Portuguese language (from Angola, Guiné-Bissau, Cape Verde, Brazil, Portugal, Madeira, Mozambique). Over four days, participants gathered to dance, share memories and reflect on stories of identity, migration and wellbeing. Rooted in conversation, music and movement, the project created a space for cultural exchange and intergenerational knowledge. The process culminated in the elders sharing and teaching dances from their respective cultures as part of the Mix & Move programme in the Clore Ballroom, inviting the public to learn and celebrate these living traditions together.
